Service
CYCH is the largest regional teaching hospital
in Yunlin - Chiayi area, we are equipped with all
types of diagnostic equipment, and not only improve
medical quality but also develop the sub-specialized
professionals in order to serve in the role of
guardian of health for the people. We also wish to
extend our service to our country fellow in the
rural areas.
Holistic Medical Services
CYCH provide the best medical care
environment, with the multidiscipline and team-work
model which combines different specialized
professionals to serve the patient, and special
teams are formed, such as: kidney transplant team,
bone marrow transplant team, cancer care team. We
have patients’ family support groups which combine
the power of patient and family to develop various
aspects of support and self-reliance, and mutual
support from patients groups which ultimately speed
up the rehabilitation of the body, mind and spirit
of the patient.
High-tech Medical Equipment
To provide the patients with the most
comfortable and safe healthcare services, we set up
the Department of Medical Imaging, the Department of
Radiation-Oncology and the Department of Hematology
in 1999. In turn the Department of Nuclear Medicine,
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Center began operation in
2000 and the hospital continues to install the
needed high-tech medical and healthcare instruments.
We have linear accelerators, magnetic-resonance
imaging, excimer laser, gamma camera, patella joint
scope and a cryo- tissue cutting unit.
CYCH further became the only hospital for
cancer prevention and treatment in Yunlin - Chaiyi
area since the plan of “the Center of South Area
Cancer Prevention and Treatment” of CYCH was
passed by the Institute of Health in Oct 2001.
Interdisciplinary
Cooperation
Through much devotion to accomplish
interdisciplinary cooperation we have put many funds
and man-hours continuously in services such as the
laser light-bending surgery, burns treatment,
high-pressure oxygen therapy, extracoporeal shock
wave lithotomy, the molecule experiments, micro-neurosurgery,
and heart surgery. CYCH also makes every endeavor to
push forward the services of organ transplants,
having already accomplished independently the kidney
transplant, penetrating keratoplasty the bone marrow
transplantation but also accomplished the
inter-regional as well as inter-hospital organ
transplantation with the National Taiwan University
Hospital.
In view of the importance of department
integration as well as to provide the patients with
more complete therapy, right now the diabetes
holistic outpatient service, the sleep obstruction
holistic outpatient service, the woman cancer
holistic outpatient service, have been set up. CYCH
awards financial aid from the plans of “the Center
of South Area Prevention and Treatment”, “Center
of Vision Maintenance in South Region”, and
“Health Center for the Teenager”, by the
Institute of Health. The continuous assessment and
promotion mean CYCH expects to bring the medical
care standard in Yunlin - Chiayi area forward.
Emergency Department
The Emergency Department, whose service motto
is “safe, comfortable, privacy”, is the largest
in Yunlin – Chiayi area. We have 15 visiting doctors
in emergency medicine and 41 beds.
The Emergency Department is divided
functionally into the active care area, treatment
area, emergency area for children, the observation
room, diagnostic medical imaging area, the
obstetrics & gynecology check-up room, a room
for interview and social consultation, and a meeting
room. We have portable x-ray and ultrasonic imaging
instruments, and a whole body computer tomography
(CT scanner). The care and check-up in the active
care area is within reach so as to minimize the
movement of patients at risk.
We conduct the related educational and
training courses and programs about the necessary
emergency care for our colleagues, EMT and the local
fire fighters. We also installed the Emergency
Network with other hospitals and government
agencies, In addition, training the best doctors for
the emergency medicine - all these are our
responsibilities.
Pharmacy
The
department has six sections which are: the clinic
pharmacy, the outpatient pharmacy, the inpatients
pharmacy, the emergency pharmacy, pharmaceutical,
and the stock room. To provide the patients with the
correct drug information and dosage, we set-up the
computerized networking recognition system using
color-coding and Chinese web interface for all
medical personals.
The
outpatient pharmacy provides TPN for Home Care and
drug prescription make-up in chemotherapy cancer
treatment. The emergency pharmacy provides the
around the clock prescription preparation. The
inpatients pharmacy is equipped with UDDS
computerization and the computerized medication
packaging operation. The clinic pharmacists get
involved with the ward rounds of the physicians and
the case seminars; and also perform blood drug
content tests, the inpatients drug-usage consulting,
TPN and chemical therapy drug prescription make-up
for cancer patients.
Nursing Services
The four nursing ideas of CYCH are “holistic
medical care and nursing; patient-oriented nursing;
love and improve our nursing profession; academic
and clinical nursing sharing with other
institutions” and these principles are to provide
the best nursing services possible. We installed the
“DART focus nursing method” and patient-oriented
nursing care which emphasizes the nurses
full-responsibility in patient care.
We have nursing educational training programs
and are continuously updating related knowledge and
skills. The juniors are asked to attend actively the
three days pre-clinical course, and thence mentoring
by senior staff at the bed-sides with related
special seminars for four weeks. In the on-job
training, we annually have each kind of nursing
specialized professional training such as the
nursing management training, the Intensive care
nursing, and emergency nursing.
All nursing units have their own teaching
activities, seminars on quality management and
related professional topics are scheduled by our
Education Committee. Nursing personals are also
encouraged and arrangements made to attend special
training and seminars in other hospitals.
